2013 Walking Tours

Some people enjoy scouring seed catalogs in during the winter months and envisioning next year's garden delights. I imagine walks along a river, sunset walks on the beach, magical mountain pathways that pass by roaring streams, picnic lunches in sunny spot on rock ledge.

After 10 years of running Walk For All Seasons as a solo operation, I have joined forces with Ward Luthi and Walking The World. Ward has been the forefront of walking tours for people over 50. For 2013, Walking the World and Walk for All Seasons will be offering just one tour, as we plan for 2014. But Ward has many other wonderful tours for 2013 that you can sign up for. I just won't be on them. Trips that are a joint venture between Walk For All Seasons and Walking The World will be noted on the Walking The World website.

Dates: Sept 25-October 2, 2013
Land Cost: $1987. (U.S. Funds)
Single Supplement: $300
Lodging: Motels
Difficulty: Moderate. Hikes average 5-7 miles daily.
Trip Begins: Fort Collins, CO
Trip Ends: Fort Collins, CO

The hiking terrain is varied and fairly moderate for the most part. Each day encompasses some flat areas, including walking in dry stream beds and through canyon bottoms, but we will also be walking up to a number of canyon rims. Our trails sometimes cross from canyon to canyon, meaning we will be walking on different levels of the sandstone formations, giving us outstanding views of the surrounding areas.

Located in Southeastern Utah, the canyon systems we’ll visit contain some of America's wildest and most remote canyons, arches, and natural bridges. Our explorations will take us into side canyons that were some of the last places to be explored in the U.S.

Our first three days will find us in Arches National Park, just north of Moab, Utah. During our time here we will enjoy a number of trails, including our beginning hike to Delicate Arch and a longer 5-mile trek along the Park's desert "primitive trail." On one day we’ll explore the Needles Unit of Canyonlands National Park, visit famous Newspaper Rock, view numerous Petroglyphs and Pictographs and see some of the best scenery in SE Utah. Our last two days find us exploring the wonders of one of Utah’s jewels, Capitol Reef National Park, on the Chimney Rock and Pleasant Creek trails.

If you have any concerns about your ability to enjoy any tour, please ask. If you are in good health, exercise regularly and commit to getting ready for the tour of your choice you will have a wonderful experience. It is difficult to "rate" tours because everyone has a different perspective on what is "easy, moderate or difficult." Discussing your particular conditioning and experience with Maggie is the best way to assess whether a tour is right for you.

AIRFARE is not included in trip rates. Participants are responsible for getting to the destination hotel -- though in the case of European tours, you may travel with Maggie if that works for you. Always wait for trip confirmation before making air arrangements since we must have a minumum of participants in order to lead a group tour. Some folks like to arrive a day early and stay at a hotel near the airport. We can arrange pick up there, too. This helps protect against unexpected flight delays and cancellations. Or you can arrange to arrive a day early at the host hotel.

Cancellation Policy
If you must cancel your reservation
for any reason, you will be charged a
cancellation fee. Deposits need to be taken seriously, as we commit to a trip when we have a certain number of reservations and your change of plans effects others ability to travel and the total cost of the trip.

Refund Schedule:
90+ days before departure: Loss of deposit
31 - 90 days before departure Loss of 50% of total cost.
0-30 days before departure loss of 100% of total cost.

Refunds are based on the date we receive
written, email or phone notice of your cancellation.

Right To Cancel
We reserve the right to cancel any tour, in which case a 100 percent refund of your tour fee will be made. We do not reimburse you for flight changes or cancellations. Once your recieve notification to book your flight, (No less than 90 days before departure) the trip will not be cancelled except in the case of Acts of God, War or Terrorism.

Trip Insurance
I strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation insurance if you have concerns about unexpected emergencies. Of course, if Walk For All Seasons has to cancel a trip, you receive a full refund.

All participants must sign a Waiver of Reponsiblity form, supplied by Walk For All Seasons on this website, prior to the tour. This is required by my insurance provider.
